Section 24
Duties and Powers of Armed Police
:
(1) The duties and powers of the armed police shall be as follows:-
(a) Every armed policeman shall be deemed to be on duty at all times and shall at any time go to the place assigned to perform his duties.
(b) The orders of the armed police of higher rank should be obeyed carefully.
(c) Every armed policeman should be aware and vigilant about the work entrusted to him or his team.
(d) It shall be his duty to perform other duties as mentioned in this Act and the rules made under this Act and other prevailing laws.
(2) If an armed police officer has sufficient and reasonable grounds to suspect that a prohibited item or a person involved in a crime is present in any house, place or vehicle in the area in which he is assigned, according to the prevailing law, he may search such house, place or vehicle and search the person involved in criminal activities. He can be arrested and handed over to other local police as soon as possible.
